|Dr. Kadie Sesay
News from our home based editorial desk in Freetown has indicated thatall our earlier predictions about the country’s main opposition party, SLPP, are fallen in place one after the other, as the elected flag-bearer Ret. Brig. Julius Manda Bio named today Dr. Kadie Sesay as his running-mate in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. It must be noted that Critique Echo predicted Dr. Kadie Sesay as the most suitable candidate for the position in late July this year.
Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairperson of the National Electoral Commission (NEC), Christiana A. M. Thorpe (Dr.) after consultation with the President, have announced the date for the Presidential Election slated for November 17 next year. According to a Press Release from the NEC Chairperson, she stated that “in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 28 of the Electoral Laws Act 2002 (Act No. 2 of 2002), the National Electoral Commission after consultation with the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, hereby makes the following proclamation that; “The 17th day of November 2012 is hereby appointed as the day for the election of the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone.” However, the release is silent about the date for Parliamentary, City and District Council elections.
